Location: On the banks of the Mara River, in the Western Koyiaki conservation area.

The Lodge is situated in the richest game view section of the Kenya’s legendary Maasai Mara Ecosystem, directly on the wildebeest “Great Migration” route.

Lodge description:
Royal Mara offers a blend of the classic tented safari camp with the amenities of a lodge.
Nestling on a peninsula directly on the banks of the Mara River, the Camp marsh,
resident hippo pools, lagoon and waterhole make game viewing inside the Camp,
in combination with game drives, a truly unforgettable safari experience.

Accommodation:
There are only 8 riverfront tented chalets raised on mahogany platforms with large open verandas where guests can relax overlooking the breathtaking river scenery.

Each chalet has been individually decorated with artistically handcrafted furniture and magnificent four-poster beds.
The chalets have an area of 110 square meters consisting of a sleeping area (36 sqm), bathroom (22 sqm) and veranda (52 sqm).
En suite bathrooms with hot & cold running water are fitted with rain showers, twin basins, bidets and flushing toilets.
The amenities in the chalets include electronic safe deposit box, mosquito net and mini bar. A personal attendant is assigned to each river chalet.

Dining:
Meals are served in diverse spectacular settings, i.e. near a hippo pool along the Mara River, on the open savannah, under the African stars or privately on your own veranda.

The menu changes daily and features international cuisine. All meals are prepared with fresh produce and all breads and desserts are prepared daily.

Electricity and water supplies:
Royal Mara has reliable electric generators that supply 220-240 watts electricity.
Three pin square plugs are required. The Camp’s water borehole provides pure water that is tested periodically.
All guest drinking water and ice cubes come from sealed bottles.

Security:
The Camp is unfenced and wild game, especially resident hippos, roam trough the camp at night.
Maasai warriors and armed guards are posted outside each guest chalet at night to guarantee the safety of our guests.

Health:
Please note that all our beds are fitted with mosquito netting.
A medical staff is available at all times in case any need arises.

Conservation:
Royal Mara is totally committed to minimizing its impact on the environment.
All non biodegradable garbage and sewage is transported to a suitable urban collection location.
Nothing is dumped or taken from the Mara River.

All materials used including guest supplies, cleaning materials, waste disposal methods and landscaping are eco-friendly.

How to get there:
By road: Approximately 6 hours driving time from Nairobi.

By air: Morning and afternoon flights are available from Nairobi (aprox. 45 min. flight) as well as flights from Mombasa, Laikipia, Naivasha, Samburu, etc. to nearby airstrips Mara Shikar (15 min.), Musiara (35 min.) and Kichwa Tembo (75 min.)

Annual closing dates: Royal Mara is open through out the year.
